Special Interest Groups are informal structures that exist inside the auspices of IFIP. In general these SIGs are associated with a technical committee, in our case, this is TC13.
The IDC SIG was formed in 2009 and resulted from the need to provide a virtual meeting place for the many researchers working in the area of interaction design with children and child computer interaction. The SIG is entirely voluntary, its officers are volunteers and members simply sign up - there are no fees.
The SIG oversees the annual interaction design and children conference and collates calls for conferences and news that relates to this particular field. It does not promote or endorse conferences, events and paper calls that it advertises but does seek to provide the community with reliable information.
There is an annual meeting of the SIG at the annual conference (IDC) each year and the SIG officers meet with the technical committee at the bi-annual Interact conference.
